Gotham is a show that I have had a love hate relationship with over its first two seasons. When the show began there was a lot of hate out there from fans who did not like the idea of reworking the Batman mythos and back story. I was one of the fans that was able to push a lot of what I knew about the back story and just enjoy the show for what it was. I watched all the way through the season and enjoyed it, not as much as Agents of SHIELD or The Flash, but it was fun to watch. So I was very excited for season 2, but about half way through the season I just found myself being bored when watching it so I stopped. It turns out that I tuned out just before it started to get really good again with the introduction of Mr. Freeze. I recently finished the second season and was not disappointed, it ended on a fairly high note in my book. So now we pick up on Season 3 Episode 1.

screen-shot-2016-07-07-at-11-24-10-pm-www-imagesplitter-netSeason 3 starts a few months after the end of the last season with Bruce and Alfred coming back from their time abroad with more information on the secret council that has its “talons” in the Wayne Corporation. We see Jim Gordon, still not on the GCPD, come back to Gotham as a bounty hunter tracking down Hugo Stranges’ monstrous creations that are hiding throughout Gotham City. We are also introduced to Valerie Vale, who may or may not be related to Viki Vale, and she is covering the story of the escaped prisoners. We get to see The Penguin is back in his old position of mobster and is on a hunt for the newly resurrected Fish Mooney……sigh……

The first episode was a pretty good season premier and did a really good job of reintroducing where the characters cc16_gotham_lpare and what their new role in the show is going to be. The one thing that I really did not like is the re-introduction of Fish Mooney to the show. I find her character to be pointless and mildly annoying, I had an immense sense of relief when they killed her off, again, in season one only to have her back by the end of season 2. I love Jada Pinkett Smith as an actress I just can’t stand the character. One of the things that had me pulled back into this season is the introduction of the Court of Owls. This is one of my favorite stories that has ever come out of the Batman comics and I am excited to see how they portray it in the show. We shall see how the rest of the season turns out, but it was a promising start and I am glad to be watching the show again.
